Reflecting Intersections: A Student Pop-Up Show
November 14 to November 23, 2024
This selection of prints and photographs from the David Owsley Museum of Art's collection aims to spark conversations about student activism. Student interns and assistants met with student organizations to select works that examine social issues through multiple lenses and encourage visitors to think critically about what art reveals about American culture, experiences different than their own, and current politics. On Saturday, November 16, 2024, students will convene for a lively discussion focused on the role of art in raising awareness and fostering empathy about police brutality, political violence, racial bias, and inequality.
Reflecting Intersections coincides with the David Owsley Museum of Art’s exhibition The Art of Elizabeth Catlett from the Collection of Samella Lewis, which inspired the museum interns and assistants to create a pop-up show that confronts beliefs about race, gender, economic power, and social justice.
This exhibition was conceived in collaboration with the following Ball State student organizations:
Office of Inclusive Excellence
Collegiate 100
National Association of Black Journalists at Ball State
Black Creative Conscious
Multicultural Center
Men and Women of Color
