Student's Choice: Music
Long before the first paintbrush touched canvas, humans entertained themselves by creating sounds pleasant to their ears. Those sounds eventually evolved into the music we enjoy today. Much like visual art, music’s restorative qualities and emotive capabilities appeal to many. It is only natural that many artists throughout the centuries have turned to music as a subject in their own work. Various pieces on display at DOMA even feature suggested songs that complement the artwork. This selection of music inspired objects includes a range of styles and techniques that link visual and aural art.
Selections made by Jerret Barker, Public History Major, class of 2022, and DOMA Collections intern.
